Can somebody explain this please - Bank balance query.

I had 135 in my bank this morning, i have spent £105 yet my account is showing an avaiable balance of -£35???????? Im confused.

I have chjecked all reciepts to make sure i haven't been over charged for anything and i haven't so whats going on?

Am i now going to be charged for going over my overdraft becuase i don't see how i could have?

Have you any standing orders/direct debits coming out?

No they always go out at midnight so any going today had already gone this morning when i checked the balance, it was only the 1 dd that i was expecting to go that had gone, there are no others due.

Could it be a cheque you have written for £65?

Maybe a company has put through a purchase twice by accident? Can you phone your band and get them to check exactly what has gone through?

Yes all shopping was done with visa debit card, what do you mean they stay in the system? Usualyy the money i spend on it comes strieght off the balance. i just wondering where the last £30 went to! It's not a problem im not desperate as i have a cheque clearing tommorrow just wondering where its gone!

I don't get bank fees, well i never have before and i can't think of reason i would have any.

If it's a visa debit card it wouldn't automatically decline if you were spending below the shop's floor limit.

I don't think all payments are always made in real time , especially if you sign rather than use PIN number. So it could be that something from a few days back has just been debited.

debit card purchases are removed from your account immediately but only show on the balance,(the in between days are known as being in the system) this may take a few days before they are visible on a mini statement

Yes its something from Monday that has only just been debited - sigh, they apologised and are not going to charge me as it should have come off when i brought it not today.
