Turned down for new phone - Black mark on credit history?

Hi,
Does anyone have any advice? I've just been turned down for a new mobile contract because of a mistake on the electoral roll (hadn't updated to my new married name even though I sent through the form with corrections months ago).

Will this mean that I have a black mark on my credit history? Mobile company have said yes.

I am v worried as we are in the process of moving and concerned it might affect our new mortgage offer.

I am also mightily p'ed off - I have never defaulted on a loan/credit card, have no debts except mortgage and student loan and always pay all bills on time, etc, etc.

Any advice appreciated.
ta, Running Monkey.

Hi

If a credit check is declined then they mark this on there.

If it is due to a fault on your history then you can get that corrected. You can also add info about lines I believe. Check out the web site it gives advice.

Check out Martin Lewis's article on CRF's and how to get them free or cheaply.
