CCCS - some reassurance needed please.

We recently contacted CCCS regarding some debts that were getting on top of us. They have advised us to contact the two credit card companies concerned and offer them a token payment of £1 per month and to stop adding interest onto our accounts until we are in a better financial position (I was made redundant at the end of my maternity leave so we have only one income coming in right now). Well, today I have received a letter from one of the companies advising us that they cannot accept this offer and will be referring the matter to their legal team. I am worried sick. CCCS advised us the banks are often reluctant to accept these offers but to be reassured that they will, after some haggling agree, and will not take us to court for credit card debts. We are meeting our mortgage payments and utilities, so it is just two credit cards that are causing us problems. Please could anyone reassure me - I am feeling a bit overwhelmed by this right now and would be grateful if anyone who has had experience of CCCS could advise. Thanks in advance.

Sorry to hear you are feeling so overwhelmed by this.

I don't have any personal experience, but "referring to our legal team" doesn't sound like they are doing anything other than passing your letter along to another office in the credit card company. You could still try haggling with the "legal team."

Could you not go back to CCCS and ask for further advice?

Stick with the advice given by the CCCS, they are dealing with these companies all the time, and they know how they work, I bet they will accept your offer, banks just have procedures and protocols to follow.
I have not delt with CCCS before, but my friend has, and she had a few more than 2 creditors, and they all accepted the proposal.
Good Luck. x

Defo get back to the CCCS, i might be wrong but believe you should send them the payment of £1 as offered with a covering letter.
