Fundraising for local pre-school Advice please....

Our very well established pre-school had to close down last month due to financial issues which were down to bad decisions made by the chairperson and nursery manager. The parents are now trying to open a new committee run pre-school and trying to fundraise for equipment etc as all the old equipment has been claimed back from the bank.
I was wondering if there is any legal reason why we cannot put collection boxes in our local shops with information stuck on to tem with what we are collectiong for and why for example...
Please help us raise funds to reopen
The children of our village now have no pre-school and we are trying to open one to fill the void. Any monies donated will be put towards equipment for the children and very gratefully received Many Thanks.
Obviously the wording would need working on .
Please can anyone let me know if it is legal to do this and if so do any of you have a better way of wording what to put on the boxes? TIA

Could you not ask for donations of toys in good condition? I have a whole heap of stuff to go to a good home but last time I gave something to the play group they sold it on as they had too much stuff. Made me very reluctant to give to them again.

Ok you will have to fundraise for bigger play equipment like climbing frames and sandboxes. But jigsaws, dressing up clothes etc you should be able to get quite a few.

I have a whole box of plastic fruit and other shop related items looking for a home!
