I had a notice to pay back my overpayment today - the IR sods want £1800 from me!!! Phoned up to (again) say I had no idea how I'd been overpaid etc etc. There's supposed to be a form coming to me (from a couple of weeks ago when i phoned up) but naturally the department wanting payment is far more efficient than the department to help you.

The woman I spoke to was shtty so was naturally shtty back to her and she tried to excuse their slowness by saying lots of people needed the forms - so I said I wonder why!!!

And I've had the official answer......it's all YOUR fault. We, the sponging tax credit claimers, have all neglected to send back our annual forms and so the poor hard-done-by IR has overpaid us and has to do all this work claiming it back. It's not their fault for being cr*p and not inputting info into their computers, it's all our fault.

WTF!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously, does anyone fancy doing a joint complaint to Tony Blair and the head of IR with me about this?

Wk mines not sorted and i meant to tell you last night that 3 weeks ago i also recieved a bill through the door from IR for the sum of £1500 and a giro slip at the bottom! i rang them and kicked up a stink explaining that we were entitled to £989 wtc for year 2004-2005 and had recieved NOTHING from them, she told me they were withholding it and it had been taken off our overpayment! I then asked what was happening with the appeal and she told me that it had been passed to final people and we wouldnt have to repay! When asked WHY we had been sent the bill she said that everyone who had been overpayed was getting a bill and if the appeals were successful we would all get our maoney back! So not content with keeping £989 from us they wanted us to pay another £1500 just like that and then they would give it all back to us in APRIL!!!!! The lady i spoke to was lovely and put a HOLD on our account!!

Wow - they really do take the cake!!! Glad you had a nice lady that sorted it though. Stupid idea - you pay the overpayment you're not supposed to pay and then they pay it back???
