i bought some shares this week - totally a one off and i want to just keep them and forget about them iykwim - so anyway, i purchased them through barclays and they set up the wrong a/c for me - the a/c i now have is a foreign one (as the shares are not uk) and there will be an inactivity fee on the a/c. does anyone know the best place or company to keep shares - am i going to get stuck with quarterly fees everywhere? i know nothing about shares! anyone?

i dont know anything about overseas shares, but with uk shares you should be able to hold the certificates yourself.

barclays stockbrokers are usually quite good and will tell you what you can or cannot do.

what did you buy?
