Is there anything I can do about this cottage that we are currently staying in?

a) I had to spend time defrosting the freezer on arrival. This had to be done as so much ice had built up, I was unable to shut the door.

b) The shower is not working. We have contacted the owners but other than sending their friend round to look at it, (who was not either a plumber or an electrician) they have done nothing about it.

These would be inconvenient but the clinchers are:

c) having to clean (pubic) hair from the bath so I could bath my children, and, wait for it....

d) remove a dirty pair of men's pyjamas from a bedside cabinet, and by "dirty" I mean with semen stains. I actually found this to not be only unpleasant but actually quite upsetting.

I have e-mailed the owners but there has been no response. Do I have any come back? I actually want some money back.

God that is awful!

Yuck.

Reminds me of staying in a hotel in Thailand once with friends and our friend found a pair of dirty knickers (not hers) IN the bed!

I would demand some money back or you'll torch the place

sorry not much help

If they are accredited through the tourist board contact there local office and they shouel send someone out to inspect, if you also feel the place is dirty then contact environmental health.

If you rented through an agency then you will also ned to contact them with details and demand some money back

Get the shower fixed and send the owner the bill.

Complain to the agency (if there is one)

This isn't on, the place should have been checked over before you mooved in.

Ooh name and shame them (in a coded way LOL)

RiojaLover75 · 29/10/2008 19:21

Oh my God. If this is a holiday let cottage you have to tell the agency/ owners!!

That's disgusting, you should never have to clean before you stay in one! The shower should be fixed before anyone stayed there OR at the very least you should be told there's a problem beforehand.

Complain, complain, complain. You've paid for this!!!
