i've just applied for this because my health is deteriorating and wondered how they approach your doctor, ie do they say "miss b has applied and said this, is she telling the truth?" or do they say "miss b has applied, whats wrong with her?" because if it's the latter I'm wondering if I should give all my doctors and consultants a copy of the form as they may not be aware of all ways I am affected by all my symptoms and therefore might not realise the severity, if that makes sense?

I'm making myself really anxious over this :/

You could call the DLA people and ask? Or i think there are organisations who will help you with DLA claims.

I feel for you we are currently re filling out the forms for ds1 and they are a nightmare to do.

they sent me one of their doctors.
The woman ended up hugging me and weeping much to my astonishment. Ask for her

lol nmc.. sounds like she's exactly who I'd need ;)

that form was a nightmare charlee, took me about 3 weeks to complete, I've sent it off now but I find myself worrying abut it terribly as I desperately need the help now.

I'm just worried that my gp and consultants won't tell the whole story because none of them really know it, just their own bits if that makes sense?

they will probably just confirm you are as disabled/ill as you have said on the form.
Its a stupid form with its 'how many times' and 'How long?'

CharleeInChains · 26/10/2008 16:51

Well i am lucky i have ds's nurse fill out the 'professionals' bit of the form and give her name and contact details.

Does your medical problem have a charity? DS has cf so the cftrust will wirte letters for dla applications if need be.

They really are a nightmare, they want to know the in's and out's of a cats behind and they are so repetative! I hope you getr a decent result.

If your GP can't give any or enough supporting evidence they may ask their doctors to assess you by medical.

Good luck.
