OK - I am now totally confused by my elec bill; I need someone really good at maths to sort it out

I used
Day rate 364 units
Night rate 1503 units

In Nov last year my bill would have been £202.48 and now it is only £168.96

Which makes no sense to me

Could someone work it out for me if I post the figures?

any chance elec bills have come down in UK?

You use less electricity during the summer as the lights, computer etc are on less because of the longer daylight. You should expect day to be more than night though (I think). Maybe they have them the wrong way round?

Current Prices (well Aug 08)
For night registers, 4.612 pence per kilowatt.
For day registers, 9.612 pence per kilowatt for the first kil
For day registers, 28.871 pence per kilowatt for the first 1.37kilowatts used a day, and pence per kilowatt for the rest. owatts used a day, and pence per kilowatt for the rest.

& it's over 98 days

Nope it's not the amount - it's the rates

& no they haven't gone down - apparently they have shot through t he roof (my next bill is 24% more expensive)

You can claim this back from the tax office if you have been working from home. I'm not sure if it's some or all, it is a business expense though.

You can save money if you are with NPower and earn less than £13000 something or other.

Storage heaters eat electricity by the way.

No storage heaters some underfloor heating - which may not go on at all this year

You have to keep warm somehow. Have you thought of getting one of those thingies that measures how much electricity each of your appliances uses so you can see which one is bleeding you dry?

I have a wood burner - but the wood price has gone up

I have had n heat yet this year & I am sat here in PJ's & a towelling dressing gown

My house is very well insulated - I work hard at it

Is wood cheaper than having the underfloor heating on?

Different parts of the house - so.......I may have to have both that is a very bad idea

What about having the wood burning stove and some oil radiator thingies in the other cold bits of your house?

I don't know how much under floorheating costs per K/W hour. My brain is dead today.

I think it is the washing up & the washing machine plus all the cleaning we do (lots of HW)

You havn't filled in the correct KW/Hour day prices.

Your night ones come up to £68.32 though.

Hmmm. It's normally one figure (normally high) for the first 20 or so units, then a lower figure for the rest. Day units are normally higher than night, you use more day units as they run from 7am to 12pm, you are bound to use more eletricity during the day because of the TV/computer/washer/dryer etc. I would take another reading.
