Can we end our tenancy?

We signed up for a 12 month contract, it ends in April but we are having financial problems and need to move to a smaller/cheaper place ASAP.
Can we end the contract?

Depends on your contract - is there a break clause? You may have to give a month's notice or more depending on your contract.

You can put your case forward to your Landlord but he doesn't have to release you from your lease.

Personally if you were my tenants I would release you early but only after new tenants had been found so I wouldn't be out of pocket.

I think you need to be upfront with your landlord and ask.

Can you find someone else to take on the tenancy? If you can, your landlord will be much more amenable to releasing you from your contract.
