Basically i have a small car that i had modified when i was young and stupid but after having an accident last year, my policy has now doubled in cost. Have had other quotes but not mentioned my modifications? What would happen if i had another accident? Would they only repair it to a standard corsa?

I think your policy would be invalid if you took it out without mentioning the mods.
There is usually a clause in there about it.

You have to tell them about the modifications. Even if they make no difference at all, insurance companies just love picking on things like that to invalidate policies.

LittleMyDancing · 15/09/2008 11:23

they would use the fact that you had not disclosed the modifications to wriggle out of paying anything, even if the modifications had nothing to do with the claim.

always tell the whole truth to your insurance company. it's a pain, but it's the only way.

have you shopped around for a quote? Some companies are kinder about modifications than others.

TheArmadillo · 15/09/2008 11:23

you would invalidate your insurance as you have lied by ommission. They wouldn't repair your car.

How much are the mods worth - if under a certain amount it may not affect the price of your insurance - but you would still need to mention them.

Have done some shopping but they dont give you much chance to explain the modifications.

will look at best quotes and follow up with a phonecall re - modifications!

Many Thanks

try googling car insurance + modifications - you might find a specialist insurer gives you a better quote.
