Two left feet - again

I've placed an order with Two left feet - I now know I shouldn't.

in dire straits here though as late ordering pram etc. baby due 26.9 and placed order last week - took money straight off my card and I assumed they carried stock.

received email to say estimated delivery w/c 22/9! too late.

sent 3 emails to theire dedicated aftersales team (!!??) no reply. can't get through to anyone on phone, mostly engaged.

credit card co say will have to wait 30 days to give chancwe to deliver.
I have cancelled the order via email as per intructions on website but - you guessed it - no reply!

£500 down, need pram & carseat - any ideas/contacts??

No help I'm afraid, but something needs to be done about this company. 100's of similar threads here over the years. Maybe Trading Standards or similar can advise?

Baby Pages have been recommended before as a good and reliable alternative.

Hopefully you'll get your money back quickly. It is staggering that this company is still able to trade. I have always found the Babyworld shop to be very good. I've ordered 2 car seats and several other things from them and delivery is usually next day. If you register with them I think you also get 5% discount too.

I cancelled my order about 3 weeks ago after reading some terrible reports on here. They sent me an e-mail suddenly giving me a delivery date when a day earlier they couldn't even confirm when the stock would arrive. But I decided not to risk it.

I am yet to receive the refund - they have 11 days left...or I'll take them to the small claims court (as I advised I would in my cancellation e-mail!)

Oh, you poor thing - I have been dealing with them for a month, trying to get my pram and cot after ordering in May (yes, 3 months ago). Initially they couldn't even guarantee a delivery date, but the more I whinged, the more capable they magically became.

Have you emailed for a refund? The email is [email protected]. Unfortunately they will (almost without a doubt) make you wait the full 30 days that they are entitled to before giving you a refund. Distance selling regulations state that:

"On the cancellation of a contract, any sum paid by the consumer must be repaid as soon as possible and, in any case, within thirty days of cancellation."

Oh, and if you want to speak to them on the phone, you'll have to hold for at least 30 mins before they answer, probably more like 45. I've phoned them about twice a week for the past month, and this has been the case every single time. If you call aftersales, ask to speak to Jan and be prepared to get hysterical - as far as I can work out, she's the only person in aftersales with the right to actually do anything like change delivery dates.

Oh, and not once did I get a reply from the aftersales team email - my MIL (who placed the order on her card), my DP and I probably sent something in the region of 20 emails between us, possible more, over the past month, and not once have we had a reply.

Oh, and threaten them with small claims!

can you borrow a car seat to get home from hospital?

No idea but if you do get your money back I got my pram through Kiddicare dot com or uk and it was delivered in 3 days

thanks all. contacted trading standards and Consumer Direct.gov.uk. Very helpful (not enough to get my money back immedialey though!).

They said that under the direct selling 2000 regulations when a delivery date had not been prearranged they had to refund within 30 days. HOWEVER, becasue their website implies that delivery is within 3-5 days and you do not know otherwise until you've gone through, placed the order, paid etc then the delivery date appears to be prearranged! They therefore could be held in breach of contract fro non-delivery within the agreed timescale.

the only items you have any idea on are the bugaboo and custom orders.

Glad you've had a bit of joy! I've also just sent them a recorded delivery letter, as I'm still waiting for some bits of the bugaboo I ordered in may.

Didnt someone on her email the director of the company and they got the order sorted out? Worth a try to find the link was within the last month I think

Oliali7 - I'm in exactly the same situation as you. We have emailed them to cancel the order and they are claiming not to have received the message. Have you had any response from them?

How this company is still trading is beyond me. They are appalling. I spoke to a friend last week who was saying she was still waiting for a high chair to be delivered. I didn't even have to ask who she had ordered it from - and I was right. On the upside, you are only ever going to place one order with them!

Olali - I can help you. We had a whole hooha with them and my very smart DH found an entire online community venting spleen on this company and also sharing incredible info on how to get money back. He is kept up to date on links to the thread he was on. When I get home from work tonight I will ask him and get you linked to it. There is a process you can go through - an email address for the MD and a wording which will guarantee you results. It worked for us - they owed us for a mountain buggy urban double plus carrycot - i.e. a fuck load of cash.

Richard is the MD's name I'm on first name terms with that cnut, the interest they must make on holding peoples money must be how they make a profit because they never seem to have any stock.

Ok, here is the info from the thread which I've pasted here for eases sake. The whole 30 day issue is a problem because it's a bit of a legal loophole, but if you don't get your money back after 30 days you should go via your bank who are obliged to credit you back the money and pursue it themselves, especially and obviously if you have used a bank card to make the purchase, which you would have done if you have paid online.

Here's what you do to get your money back:

1. Go to Her Majesty's Court Service website to the Small Claims page: www.hmcourts-service.gov.uk/infoabout/claims/index.htm

2. I filed my claim online, which seems to be the simplest way. Go to the Money Claim Online link.

3. Fill in the form online. Be aware that the actual company name you're taking to court is Two Right Feet Limited (that's the holding company name), NOT Two Left Feet Ltd. Their full address is 11/14 Sunbeam Road, Woburn Road Industrial Estate, Kempston, Bedford MK 42 7BZ. You will need to pay a transaction fee (mine was £25) which should be refunded by Two Left Feet once you get your money back (provided your claim is valid).

Ironically, as soon as I filed my County Court claim, I received an e-mail the following day from Two Right Feet Ltd. t/a Two Left Feet Limited advising that my high chair had been shipped and I would receive it the next day. I did, in fact arrive two days later but my husband refused it and had it sent back to the company. And then our refund cheque followed.

In summary, you CAN GET YOUR MONEY BACK or the goods that you ordered, but you have to know exactly how to get around this utterly despicable, immoral company in order to do so.

And yes Katie DD - that's their entire profit margin - the money they make on interest for items they do not and may not ever have in stock. That's why their prices are so competitive. It's their complete modus operandi - take your money and hold onto it until they are bound, legally, to hand it back.

I really wish some great big MN lawyer type could let us know how this company has been getting away with preying on families at their most vulnerable time for so long without being shut down.

How that man sleeps at night I have no idea. It's disgusting and I just feel something bigger could surely be done. They were on watchdog...but it hasn't daunted them - obviously.

We've sent a recorded delivery letter, as they kept saying that hadn't got our cancellation emails, and now have to wait the 30 days before we can do the next bit. Meanwhile we've got to find the money to buy a buggy from somewhere else as our baby is due next Tuesday!

That's really sweet of you, thank you! But DP has placed an order with Mothercare today (with a credit card) and a friend has come to my rescue with a Baby Bjorn in case LO decides to make an appearance in the meantime!

We have an update actually - they claimed categorically not to have received our cancellation email when I called last week so we sent a letter registered mail. They emailed us today referring to the email (that they have miraculously found!) offering us a 5% discount on the order. Needless to say, I don't want to get into any correspondence with them and have just referred them back to the letter. What a bloody farce.

I have managed to successfully get my cash back from two feet feet for a babybjorn my wife ordered back in August. !!!

I work in the law, and used a credit checking tool to find out that despite loads of forums such as this with loads of unhappy customers, they have surprisingly low amounts of CCJ's against them. They are reasonably solvent. A CCJ for those that don't know is a County Court Judgement. This is a legal declaration that you must pay up , and is enforceable (accessible via the link that Sycamoretree posted). Companies try to avoid these at all costs, as it seriously impedes their ability to get credit.

I therefore sent "notice of legal proceedings" emails with deadlines beyond the 30 day post-cancellation legal requirement. These threatened the usage of money claim online service to get to CCJ. It took one "notice" and then a "final warning" with a threat to refer to Bedford trading standards. All went to the [email protected] address

This company are absolute scummers, should anyone want my wordings of emails , please let me know, and hopefully you will get the same result.

One last point is that if you do threaten to take them to CCJ you must be prepared to follow through on it. Otherwise your bluff may be called.I would advise you don't set a deadline that you cant meet.

I have had similar problems to others and have yet to recieve the £374 worth of pram ordered & paid for at the begining of August. When I called the sales line they were happy to sell me the same pram & said it'd be sent in days, but when i revealled I'd actually paid for one over two months ago & had yet to recieve the sales staff became unhelpful and downright rude.

After many emails & phone calls I looked on this website (THANKS FOR THE ADVICE!), contacted my credit card provider & sent an email telling two left feet that the card provider was going to investigate and I was going to start proceedings through the small claims court. I recieved an almost immediate reply telling me it would be dispatched soon.

They are a terrible company and totally dishonest - avoid buying from them at all costs. I've used kiddicare in the past & will use them again.
