Tax repayment due..how long will it take

I submitted my Tax Return for the year to 5 April 2026 last week. Having checked my government gateway account it shows a repayment due and says "repayment pending '. Does anyone know how long I'll have to wait before it reaches my bank account ? Many thanks 😊

If it's definitely gone through I find it takes about a week. But if it needs a manual check or has other problems, they helpfully don't tell you and it just sits there. If the status hasn't changed in a week I suggest ringing them and speaking to a human. Not using the utterly useless live chat.

Tax Agent here, when we see that on our customer’s records, we usually receive the money within 10 days.

So I finally got through to an actual human being regarding the pending tax repayment. They've told me it's now going through security checks which can take up to 10 weeks! Does anyone one know what security checks mean as the person I spoke to had no idea 🤔
