Is the pet health club worth it?

Hi guys,

trying to come up with some ways to save some money in places where we are spending unnecessarily and wondering what people think to ‘pet health club’.

We have separate pet insurance for our cats that we’d never get rid of.

But we currently pay £15.50 per cat to a pet health club and I’m beginning to think it’s not worth it.

It covers

all flea and wormers - but our cats are indoor so we only use it once or twice a year as a precaution

six monthly check ups - this one is useful but a check up is only £40 on its own so may work out best to just pay for this! One cat has an ongoing condition so has appointments for those anyway (covered by insurance) so it’s only one cat who may want this.

annual jabs - I’m not sure what these cost separately but again may be worth just paying for - we keep our cats up to date just to be safe even though they’re indoors

10% off dental - again this one is good but with how often they need dental work it doesn’t necessarily feel value for money

i just feel like £31 an awful lot and we don’t seem to use many of the perks! I think we may have to keep it until the end of this year otherwise we’d have to pay out of pocket for the flea treatments we’ve already had; but I’m tempted to not renew

interested to hear other opinions and if anyone thinks it’s worth keeping!

I have it for my dog it is a bit more expensive for a dog but we think it is worth it . The 6 month check up is a bit unnessecary but we take it along with a boosters appointment, the other one we don't bother. Fwiw we never had anything for our cat we just flea'd and wormed twice a year i think.

We have it for a large (40kg) hound. Definitely worth it imo.

wormers and flea stuff is good for us as we’d have to buy more due to his weight. Pet Club is a flat fee.

Check up- useful for us and he always gets his free pedicure. However, it also includes a dental check.

Hound needed a lot of teeth out this year (common in his breed). We got £100 off the bill (approx) as we had the cover on his plan. I made an insurance claim, they wanted proof that he’d had a check up at least annually- which he had as it’s on his plan. Insurance paid all but £130, which would be the cleaning of his remaining teeth.

It was worth it as I got £600 and something back due to this evidence of check ups. I was a very happy hound owner!

I can see perhaps why it would be more useful for a dog, particularly with the flea and wormers!

our generally healthy cat probably only needs seeing once a year for her boosters, and as I said the other one is covered separately anyway. So I’m thinking it’s probably costing more than we use
