CCJ added to my record in ERROR!!!

I have an issue with a CCJ that was put on my record in error and was removed 2 days later.
This has now completely ruined my life as I can no longer get credit because they're all saying I've had a CCJ in the last 5 years.

I've explained to the finance companies that the CCJ was an error and I have evidence from the courts that it was in fact an error and was
removed almost straight away. But they simply WILL NOT listen and refuse to have a conversation about it.

The story behind this is as follows.

I parked in a car park and the sign said to pay within 10 minutes of arrival. I called the number and paid within a few minutes whilst stood in the car park.
This was on a Saturday and was a bank holiday weekend.

The parking company said they didn't receive the payment until Tuesday!!! So they decided to take me to court. I had absolutely no idea all this had happened until I received an email from my bank saying they had removed my credit card. I hadn't received any letters regarding any of this.
I provided bank statements clearly showing the exact time the payment was taken. The courts agreed that it was an error on the parking companies system so they agreed to completely remove the CCJ.

But they credit companies are saying 'You've had a CCJ in the last 5 years, GOODBYE'

Its so frustrating and I cannot believe this has happened!!!

Can anyone offer any advice on what I can do about this situation?

Thank you

Have you raised a dispute on your credit report?

ShutupLwren · 07/08/2026 12:24

This is fucking atrocious! I was going to ask can you raise a dispute?
I am sorry this is happening, so much stupid stress.

Nickb2513 · 07/08/2026 12:45

I have tried and tried to raise a dispute but they all come back with the same response. The Courts say they have removed it and he credit companies say 'You've had a CCJ in the last 5 years'

They're all just slamming the door in my face.

I'm being severely punished for something that I have not done and was a system error of some cheap little parking company!

I raised it with the credit companies. It was escalated with them and they came back saying the same thing 'You've had a CCJ in the last 5 years'

I also went back to the courts and they just said 'Its been removed, there is nothing more we can do'

I really cannot afford to take this back to court and fight a legal battle, I have a very very busy life working full time, kids and family. This stress is absolutely insane!!!
I've done absolutely NOTHING wrong!!

When you say the credit companies are you talking about the ones where you applied to borrow from?
This isn't where you need to raise a dispute, you need to raise it through credit report agencies, Experian, Equifax etc

I have spoken with Experian. They said 'The CCJ has been removed so the credit companies shouldn't be taking that into account, if they are then I need to raise it with the credit company'

I'm just going round in circles with them

Have you also disputed with Equifax and TransUnion. There are 3 different credit reference agencies and if the other 2 still have the ccj on the reports, that may be your issue

God that sounds utterly frustrating. No advice I'm afraid but our lives get so affected by people not doing their jobs properly.

Have you tried posting on MoneySavingExpert ?

Go to the press.

Bromptotoo · 07/08/2026 13:27

How did they get a CCJ without you getting a 'letter before action' and what used to be called a summons etc and an opportunity to file a defence with the court?

Frostiesandmilk · 07/08/2026 14:18

Taken the below from experian website. You need to check all 3 credit reference agencies to see if the ccj is on their records and contact all of them. Log in to Equifax and TransUnion and check if the ccj is on there too and raise the disputes with them also if needed

How can I add a Notice of Correction to my account?
The simplest way is to contact us and tell us what you want to say in your Notice of Correction and which entries on your report it applies to. You’ll need to contact the other main credit reference agencies as well to ask them to add a Notice of Correction on the reports they hold about you too, if those reports include the relevant entry or entries

I had a ccj removed from my credit file and it took a couple of months to come off. It has never been a problem or even mentioned after that.

How long ago did all this happen?
