Decent home insurance

We had a burglary and were with M&S insurance - they were great so we stuck with them. Now they are no longer offering home insurance, so I’m looking for recommendations for another home insurance provider. Like all insurance, people hope they won’t need it, but only find out how much of a headache a company is when you need to use it. Has anyone used an insurance company that has been really helpful when you’ve actually needed it. Please recommend to me!! Thank you!

I've been with Hiscox for over 20 years with no claims until recently. They were outstanding from start to finish on both (loss of expensive jewellery and a water leak).

Aviva were good with me after a big claim following a fire.

Direct Line were great after a burglary.

I had a fire about 15 years ago and it cost £86k to pay for us to be in hotel initially for a month, then rent for 6 months and get our house restored and all items spoiled replaced with new. I was with AXA and they were so good.

The top tier insurers like Aviva, axa, hiscox are always going to be good insurers.
when you buy insurance through say compare the market always look who the underlying insurer is
( it’s likely to be one you’ve heard of)
I have mine with policy expert and recently had an escape of water claim and they were excellent

Direct line were amazing when we had a burglary . So we’ve stuck with them for the last 15 years.
