Stressed over speeding tickets

Today I received a speeding fine from 16th March. I was caught doing 46 in a 59 mph zone. It was a lone officer with a speed gun on a tripod. My friend said that the officer was there for all of the next week too. I do that journey everyday and a now stressing that there’s more to come! Is t unlikely that I will have gotten pinged by the hand held gun several days in a row? I need my licence!

Sorry I meant 46 in a 40

Do you mean you were doing 46mph in a 40 zone? Did you not see the officer with the speed gun? I don't think they're allowed to be hidden.

FiveShelties · 04/04/2026 23:09

Did you see the officer during the following week?

Is there a reason for multiple posts in different topics?

If you need your licence don't speed...

I think I saw him once

So you need to watch your speed and improve your observation abilities

Simple answer don't speed - no excuses

If you got caught doing 46 your car spedo would of said 50 - in a 40

It's 40 for a reason and the reason is not so you can break the speed limit

Your reason for getting to a destination is not more important than other peoples reason to live

Slow down and don't speed

If you get more tickets....then hopefully you will learn

I suppose you might be lucky and he was not there when you drove past the following week.

Trusttheawesome · 04/04/2026 23:21

Well, you’re basically admitting that you speed every time you drive that road. And many other roads?
So, why do you think you should keep your license? It sounds like you need some more lessons, a speed awareness course, some financial penalty and maybe some time in a court.

Stop speeding.

In the UK officers with guns on tripods are usually dispatched to places that are known as speed hot spots and/or have safety issues - outside the local Comprehensive School is one such here.

If you get a second or third come back for more advice but if you've a clean licence you'd be very unlucky to get enough points to disqualify. But 6 won't win you any bonuses with a UK insurer.

Upsetbetty · 05/04/2026 13:15

Stop fucking speeding then. Ffs!

Overthebow · 05/04/2026 13:17

Did you speed every time you went on that road?

Boomer55 · 05/04/2026 16:50

Simple solution. Keep within the speed limit. 👍

ABC0375056 · 05/04/2026 22:04

Speed limits are not polite suggestions.

If you do that journey regularly, then you're sure to know you've been speeding every day and know there could be consequences in terms of fines or increase chance of having an accident.

Hopefully you've learnt from this.
