Loans With Bad Credit! Can't Believe I May Have To Consider Companies Like Provident!!!

No lectures please
In a financial pickle, can't borrow from family or friends, bank won't give an overdraft, have tried to sell everything possible but its not enough.
Need to make £500 in the next week or so.... its not to buy anything frivolous its for pretty desperate personal reasons
Is Provident really that bad?? Is there any other company that doesn't visit your house??

Anyone have any other companies I can try?

Sorry no experience of loan companies, but have you asked yourself the question:

If I don't come up with the £500, will the world stop turning/will anyone's head fall off?

What would happen if you couldn't find the money?

Don't do it, you'll be paying many times over for a long period of time. Go to CAB, phone a charity credit helpline like Naitonal Debtline or visit the Money Savings Expert forum for advice but please don't go down that road especially if this is just a blip,as it will haunt you for much longer than it will benefit.

I have been in the same situation recently, and i went on a website look at www.cccs.co.uk they have helped me loads and i did this 2 months ago and i only pay £65 to creditors instead of over £700 a month.. Give them a try.. May find it helps to talk to them x x

Bramshott · 18/06/2008 12:06

What about a Credit Union? I don't know much about them, but you can find out more at www.abcul.org

magnolia74 · 18/06/2008 14:06

This isn't to pay of creditors or anything, I am savvy enough to know that there are easier ways to deal with debt its not that.

This is the need for £500 asap for something personal that is important and not avoidable

Tried credit union and none in my area.

Have you tried a crisis loan? They are from Jobcentreplus. Criteria is essential for health or safety... Interest free.

lilyloo · 18/06/2008 14:15

Do you get benefits if so you can get a loan from them not sure how but my sister got one.

lou031205 · 18/06/2008 14:15

An example is furniture, or rent deposit. Or even money for food. You have to be specific about what you need it for.

lou031205 · 18/06/2008 14:16

And you don't need to be receiving benefits, but do have to pay back in installments.

magnolia74 · 18/06/2008 14:24

Nope not on benefits. Crisis loan is only for small amounts/ Needs to be £500.

Really going to have to do the Provident thing but didn't want people calling at my house

Clockhouse - like provident but with morals
If you are on benefits you can get a crisis loan

provident is very very bad, but I know needs must as the devil drives.

magnolia74 · 18/06/2008 14:31

can't spread the cost its not something like a piece of furniture but its too personal to explain sorry.

No benefits but no spare cash either
Will look at clockhouse x

Crisis loan can be max £1500 if you can justify it to the decision maker.

mammyjo · 18/06/2008 14:45

My MIL uses Provident but I have a vague memory of her telling me that she could only get a max of £200 initially with them. If she paid it back properly then they would consider more. Not sure whether you would be able to get the full £500 from them, I could be wrong though.
Hope you manage to sort something out

LIZS · 18/06/2008 14:46

Do you or dp work - can you get a salary advance ?

magnolia74 · 18/06/2008 14:47

Dp works but no chance of salary advance. £500 is half his wages

SmugColditz · 18/06/2008 14:51

Will come back to this later with more info I may have the name wrong

magnolia74 · 18/06/2008 19:01
