Went bankrupt a year ago. Discharged in December.
Currently have a basic Barcleys account with card which i can only use to withdraw cash from Barcleys cash point or Post office. Not much use on a saturday afternoon/sunday when machine is down and PO closed! Plus i would love to be able to buy online ie shopping!

Does anyone know if Barcleys are likely to let me have a new account now? Or how long i will have to wait?

Can you upgrade to an electron card?

"VISA Electron
A debit card offered by Barclays that lets you withdraw cash from any Barclays, Woolwich, PLUS or LINK cash machine - as long as you have the money in your account. You can use it in stores displaying the VISA Electron sign and some will allow you up to £50 cashback when you're shopping. Unlike a Connect card, VISA Electron cannot be used as a cheque guarantee card."

Thanks. That is possible i guess. Do most places accept it though ie Tesco?

I just hope they accept it in places my daughter wants to shop as we have just changed her cashcard to an electron card so she can buy something that costs a less than a tenner when she hasn't that much in her account and most cashpoints only dispense minimum £10.

Thanks. Sounds good. I will have to go into the bank and speak to someone now.
