Hello Everyone,

wondering is anyone has had a uc claim review- I am struggling at the moment and paying a lot to Clearpay and Klarna and then back in the cycle of ordering from there- I have closed both accounts now but still paying a few payments off, when they check bank statements will they query this?

also will they discuss my statements with my partner?

thankyou all it is making me a nervous wreck

They won’t discuss your statements with your partner so don’t worry about that! I doubt they’ll question the Klarna payments either. The only thing they queried on my statement was a £3,000 payment from my dad but it was just to clear a credit card and they accepted that. You’ll be fine honestly, bin off Klarna when u feel strong enough, it caused me lots of trouble! It’s too easy!

Thankyou so much for your reply! Only today I sent the statements off, looking at how much I overspend has caused me so much anxiety and worry! Definitely made me open my eyes!

These reviews seem to be focussed on (a) catching undeclared and cash in hand earnings from trading/employment and (b) people playing fast/loose with capital.

What you spend your money on or if you use Clarna or similar to spread costs, as any person might, is none of their concern.

You’re fine OP. I had a review and panicked before it. They’ll likely ask you about any credits that have come into your bank other than salary etc so have a check through your statement to make sure you can account for them. I have Clearpay on mine and they didn’t bat an eyelid.
the lady I spoke with was lovely and put my mind at ease immediately.
they also asked about any children’s accounts as they could see payments going to them so if you have these make sure you include them. I just had to send the statements afterwards but it’s easier to declare before to complete the process faster.

You don't need to worry about this at all. I'm a benefits adviser and field a lot of queries about UC reviews. They are only interested in income, savings, capital, not your expenditure, of which credit is an accepted part. Just ensure all bank statements are declared and uploaded when requested. Klarna can be a difficult cycle so do contact someone for debt advice if this is causing you issues- but thats a separate thing.
