Will Amazon refund or replace for a stolen parcel?

Not sure if I've posted under the right topic here. I ordered an item from Amazon that was due to be delivered by Thursday. The delivery company sent me a message today saying my parcel was being delivered today and it was around 10minutes away. I was already out as wasn't expecting any deliveries today. I checked the tracking and it says was delivered to a safe space in an enclosed porch(note I do not have a porch on my house) with a delivery photo of it being left outside my front door in full view of the street. It was a small package and could have been posted through the letterbox to be honest. Will Amazon replace the item. Attaching image of where the parcel was left outside

They did for us the key is not to say on the system that behind the bins etc is a safe place if they leave it out and you haven't let them know that's OK the liability is all theirs.

Amazing are good with this. Tell them whether you want a refund or replacement and they’ll sort it. As long as you’ve never put “outside front door/behind the bins” or something as your safe space.

JPNeed · 07/02/2026 22:52

Was it a delivery company that you had used before and given permission for them to leave parcels in your safe space?
I’ve opted to allow them to leave parcels in my safe space if I’m out. There wasn’t an option to leave it outside my front door so I had to select enclosed porch instead. I know I run the risk of having a parcel stolen but I’ve cctv and not had anything go missing in all the years of using Amazon.

Amazon refunded when an item was delivered to a neighbour the photo was literally the item in a letter box on a white door… no number or identifying things. There’s 20 houses with the same door!

just have to wait 24 hours

GarlicBound · 07/02/2026 22:55

They didn't for me! Somebody nicked 3kg of herbs from my front door. Hope they hate cooking and were badly disappointed.

I did put a camera up after that, but nothing else has gone missing <knocks on wood>

Hope they sort you out, OP.

No I've never given them permission to leave stuff outside. If anything deliveries normally get left with neighbours if I'm not home. The seller used a delivery company called Relay. I've had stuff delivered with them a couple of times before but I've always been home when they have delivered. It's the fact that the delivery note says left in an enclosed porch when there clearly isn't even a porch to leave it in. I always ask Amazon to leave deliveries with a neighbour if I'm not at home

Didnt for me either, had to do a charge back with my bank and they actually argued it even though they had left it in a bin outside of my property they had the cheek to argue and say it had been delivered, luckily my bank sided with me.

I got a refund when the Amazon delivery driver threw my parcel 20 feet up onto my inaccessible balcony. They insisted it had been delivered and I contested it and got a refund. I found the parcel a year later when I opened up the usually closed balcony door and there it was 😂

TeenagersAngst · 08/02/2026 08:23

Delivery drivers seem to have stopped even knocking to see if you are in. I often don’t know something has been delivered until I get an email or text.

Bromptotoo · 08/02/2026 08:45

I've had parcels left similarly with the delivery message referring to an enclosed porch. Our front door is set back and under sort of verandah roof but totally open to the drive.

Most deliveries, not just Amazon, just drop stuff and run, some don't even knock or ring the bell. I've even had alcohol that's supposed to need an over 18 visibly present left there.

Maryberrysbouffant · 08/02/2026 08:49

They’ve replaced missing things for me before when the driver had left “in the porch” meaning on the doorstep in full view of the street. Some delivery drivers are total morons (I have a side gate they could leave it safely behind, but they can’t be arsed to walk ten feet)

MissRaspberry · 08/02/2026 11:56

For the size of the package it could've easily been posted in the letterbox. The seller responded asking for a photo of the main entrance and number on my door I said there is no main entrance it's a house not a flat and I've already showed them the delivery photo clearly showing it wasn't in a safe place at all and left in full view for anyone to steal it
