alternatives to Splitwise

I've loved using Splitwise & shared it with a good many friends but it has reduced the number of expenses you can put on without paying. Can anyone recommend an alternative?

What bills/expenses do you use it for?

I use it for holidays with friends so we can keep a handle on who is spending what & recording it for settling up at the end. Its been easier than dividing every bill & paying separately at the time...... asking for five separate bills when a group go for a cuppa isn't realistic & neither is transferring £4 between us!

Splitwise was a good "spreadsheet" - you can record every purchase as you go & then at the end it determines what payments have to be made to settle up. Now you can only record two payments a day which is making it unworkable without everyone subscribing

Most of my friends use Monzo. If you use it and pay for things on a tab then friends can pay with a link even if they don’t have it

I use Tricount, a friend who lives in France introduced me to it. She and all her French friends use it all the time.

not sure I understand........ do you settle up as you go or does it have a running tab?

We sometimes just adjust the initial expense we’ve each put on, and it still creates the total. Probably more difficult if everything isn’t being split equally.

We use Splid for holidays, works well and I don’t think there are any limits

oh brilliant - thank you. I have seen this on the app store listing & thought it might do the deed. Are there any downsides to it?

On Splitwise. If I’ve added an expense for £20, for example, then spend another £30, I can adjust it to £50. Or I could the last time I used it in December.

oh I see. Yes, I suppose I could find a way round their restrictions - I like being about to list all spending on separate lines so that we can see what it refers to & also the whole group might not be included.

on balance, I am disinclined to stay with Splitwise as they are making it difficult & would prefer an alternative really

Can you get splitser in the UK? That's the original Dutch app for literally going Dutch. The stereotype is true, so it's well used and tested

I think everyone under 50 in the entire country has it! It links to our banking system though, so don't know how good it is outside NL.

I’ve heard great things about Collctiv - and they’re owned by a family local to me.

exse24Londoner · 03/02/2026 16:22

thank you @Paaseitjes & @WelcometomyUnderworld I'll give these a test run!!

We use Splital for our trips, it works fine and didn't notice any expense limits. They recently added the ability to import Splitwise groups, so you can import your previous trips if you want
