i've been wondering if anyone might have any tips on how i can boost my credit rating, it's not bad, mind you, i just dont have any!

someone had mentioned getting on the electoral roll, but at this moment in time i am unable to do that as i am not a British Citizen.

any ideas would be appreciated!

thank you!!

DH used to have a rubbish credit rating cos, rather oddly, he'd never been in debt! No loans, credit cards or anything.

Best way to have a good credit rating is to have some credit. I've known people same as Scootergrrrl's Dh with rubbish credit rating despite no debt.

What they want to see is responsible management of debt.

So best way to improve it I reckon is to get a credit card and use it to pay for your Sainsburys shopping every week then pay it straight off every month. So you are accumulating no interest, you are using credit responsibly, hey presto.

Of course, the conundrum is, if you have a poor credit rating due to no credit, you may struggle to get a credit card. Here I am out of advice..

I didn't think you had to be a British citizen to be on roll.

morninggirl, you can register to vote here if you're a citizen of an EU country living here, or if you're a Commonwealth citizen with leave to remain or who doesn't need such leave.
