Mortgage in sole name

A mortgage advisor recently said most high street lenders won’t allow mortgages in sole names if you are married as they know it’s a way of getting round a credit file issue. Is this true in your experience?

Yes, this is common. It’s also to avoid it being used as an attempted tax get out among otherwise financially linked individuals

How does MN end up with so many woman not on the mortgage then?

He would still be on the deeds as joint owner.
