Business Bank

Santander are apparently charging us £9.99 for my account.

I would like to have free banking - are there any recommendations. It's for a LTD Company with 2 directors.
No overdraft required. No cash handling.

Interest would be lovely but I can live in hope, can't I?

We are with Starling and couldn’t recommend them enough. Easy to deal with and banking feels uber secure

Needcoffeeimmediatley · 05/01/2026 15:43

Virgin business, they give you cash back for spending on your card

Arlanymor · 05/01/2026 15:43

Starling are awesome.

Tide works really well for our tiny business.

Cushylife · 05/01/2026 23:09

i like Allica - they have an interest savings account, pay rewards on your business spend. They have no cap on daily transfers. You have an account manager you can actually speak to. It’s free banking if you meet their requirements. Quick to set up too.
Would avoid HSBC like the plague and Co op aren’t great either- torturous application process, internet banking software is awful.

Tide and Starling are ok if you have low turnover.

Business banking is generally shit - very poor customer service.

Starling have rejected me

Did they give you a reason?

MsGreying · 23/01/2026 12:26

Did they give you a reason?

Nothing useful.
No specific reason given. Can't screengrab the app page with words to share more.
says I can reapply with a different type of business. I wonder if I messed something up during the application. I have asked for a copy of the data they hold on me.

I went through that with Barclays - they said my credit was dodgy I challenged that and took them to the Ombudsman and won - got £300 compensation - I'd have rather not have had the hassle but I was worried that there was something sinister lurking in my credit history that would affect my business.

I use Mettle which I think is owned by NatWest.
