I usually receive council tax reduction as I am on a low income, I got paid from work twice within this universal credit assessment period and therefore received less uc than usual. I have now received a letter saying I now owe £600 in council tax by January where as before I only had about £20 left to pay for the year. Obviously next month my universal credit will be back to normal as I will only be paid once within the assessment period. Does anyone know if I will still have to pay the £600 or will it cancel that out next month when my pay is back to normal? I am in Scotland if that makes a difference.
