Has anyone had something similar?

Bit concerned about this text from the bank

Have you called your bank on the number you usually use and asked them?

It’s unusual for a bank to isolate the types of transactions that can be allowed - other than by category (e.g gambling etc).

Ultimately only your bank can tell you if it’s genuine or not. DO NOT use any numbers on the message you feel is suspicious.

I’d call the bank to be sure if you’re worried.

Thanks. It's sent from the usual way they text me. Good idea to ring though.

It's legit. They can't tell me which website/s though?

I get them from my banks. All legit and all normal.

EmeraldRoulette · 30/10/2025 16:55

I can see why that's annoying

You'll have to ring, on the legitimate TSB number

But I imagine they are dictating which transactions they will honour. Presumably so you can still do stuff like a food shop without them cancelling your card completely.

As I say, I can see why that's a problem, supposing your food shop was on the Tesco website and you can't carry the food back or whatever. But I suspect it's an effort to make sure that you don't have to go without completely until the card arrives.

I have my debit card. Dh does most food shopping. I won't be using my card much for a while thank goodness.

It says the new card will be available in the app 24 hours after posting so if the card hasn't arrived you should still be able to use it via Google / Apple pay until it comes.
