I have an old defined contributions pension pot with Willis Towers Watson which I'm trying to transfer out into my current workplace pension pot. This is the second time I've tried to transfer the money out and they're putting every obstacle in my way, claiming to have sent transfer forms which don't arrive, claiming lost paperwork, etc etc. Their call centre don't give a shit. I want to retire next year and I'm trying to consolidate pensions and not have to deal with these idiots. How can I get them to transfer my funds without all of this hassle? Any advice very gratefully received.

Snap. They are shit. In my experience they also tell you all sorts of random crap concerning the rules of the scheme that change depending on who you speak to.

I can only suggest perseverance….

Ah yes, WTW. Turned into one of my 2023 projects. Don’t despair - you will get there. Took me 6 months but I won the war, despite their mind-boggling incompetence and forms which say ‘send this back to us’ WITHOUT AN ADDRESS ON.
I think I resorted to recorded delivery in the end so they couldn’t claim they hadn’t received it.

(Wasn’t an ex-CSC pension was it? Pretty much summed up my employment experience with that dreadful company!)

No, not ex CSC. God they're fucking frustrating. But I won't let them beat me.

By way of comparison, I moved an old Pru pension earlier this year with no fuss in a matter of weeks. How the hell do they get away with treating customers like this?

Just keep on it and recorded delivery or signed for for everything you send to them.

Their TrustPilot reviews are dreadful, but I suspect they don’t care about transfers out because they’re losing business anyway.

Yeah I've seen them. Their call centre staff literally do not give a shit when you speak to them.
