To be in praise of DWP: Attendance Allowance

This is probably a very rare post but I'm astounded at how quickly my mother's attendance allowance application took.

Online submission 3rd October. First payment into her account this week. That's under 2 weeks.

I thought it would be a slow full 12 week process so was amazed to see the money had hit her account.

She didn't score highly on everything either. There is some hope for the benefits system!

Yes I do a lot of these forms for work and some have been awarded within a couple of weeks recently. A few weeks ago we were waiting eight/ nine weeks. I reckon this is just a blip and they have had less applications. I've been doing these for eight years and never known the processing time be much less than eight weeks unless it is being applied for under special rules for terminal illness.

I must have applied at just the right time! My SIL was meant to have done it but was then 'too busy' so I seized the chance on a day I was visiting and I'm so glad I did.

I was amazed too. My Mum got hers under the special rule for terminal illness and I think we had the first payment around a fortnight after the application went in.

@Titasaducksarse this is a really timely and helpful information as I have just waded my way through the form. I hope that my parent gets a prompt response too.

I applied for my father in law he also received his first payment quite quick. I also applied for a blue parking badge, thinking it would take a few weeks, this also came within 2 weeks.
