Tattoo deposit

Ok so I booked a tattoo through a studio a couple of months ago. It was with their apprentice who's work is amazing. I paid a £50 deposit directly to the studio business account.

The apprentice has since left that studio. I have contacted the owner who's basically said she wont refund it. She says all the deposit money went to the apprentice and she blew is all on a holiday in ibiza. She also slated her on a personal level. I tried to explain I wasn't interested in her reasons, I paid directly into her account therefore is she not responsible for refunding it?

I have already said i will report it to my bank. Dont know if they can do anything as it was a bank transfer.

Am I being petty reporting them to reading standards? Any other advice?

I don’t think YABU. I recently reported a company to Trading Standards and I have to say they were fantastic.

Worth a try through your bank first, mine have always been brilliant in getting money back (most recently through booking.com who flat our refused even though the accomodation was never provided.)

Yeah going to try the bank first. I feel really bad as she is at another studio but they kept the deposit. They have refused to refund any of the deposits - thats totally unfair
