Temp Car Insurance

My son turns 21 a month after his 21st birthday. Having run through a quote as if he is 21 already, it’s about £400 cheaper than it will be renewing before his birthday.

Would it be possible to insure him for one month until his birthday and then arrange an annual policy?

i haven’t run temp figures through, just wondered if there’s any restrictions on reasons for temp cover.

Thanks.

No reason not to but temp cover is expensive so may not be worth it and I wouldn’t rely on the cost staying at that price unless you can buy it now for the start date as when we’ve done dummy quotes with things not quite correct, it changes when we go to buy it.

Thanks for replying. Just realising the first line of my post made zero sense! Turns 21 a month after his renewal date.

His birthday is in December, so although I’m paying it this year, it’s probably not ideal for him for it to renew so near Christmas each year.

I’ll need to have a think and play about with it nearer the time.

I didn’t even notice the mistake in the first line! Totally understood what you meant.

DS used to do dummy quotes but it’s like they knew it wasn’t his real data as soon as he turned the age, had his license a year, had a years no claims or what ever dummy info he was using happened and he wanted to buy, it didn’t really make any difference.
