Am after some thoughts on our remortgage early next year please!
Context

both work full time in our mid 50’s,DH job super stable mine less so.
Remaining mortgage will be £23k when we come off our fixed term.
2 DC one of which may go to uni in 2 years which will require funding.

I don’t really want to fix again and be restricted by that as we could use savings to clear the mortgage—DH is keen to do this but I do keep telling him that once that £ has gone from savings is that is it.

So what are my options with a fairly small and not very attractive mortgage to lenders?

Have you looked a LOndon County calculators online I used this broker (no fee) for small remortgage they pointed me in direction of Halifax but I would recommend them as a broker whole of market..

What has been your normal monthly payment??

Do either of you have any small pension pots that you could use??

To be honest, that's less than 1k a month for 2 years - what you current lender's variable rate like?

First direct allow unlimited overpayments as long as you don't entirely clear the balance, so you could end up with a small amount left if you wanted to clear most of it soon. Don't know what their minimum loan is though

How much will your payments be if you just go to standard rate?

Thanks all-will have a look at L&C and first direct
