PAYE and child benefit charge

We have always paid our child benefit charge via the self assessment and can see you can now pay via PAYE. Is there a benefit to paying it this way? It would be nice to not have to do a self assessment but wondered if as deducted directly, is there a financial benefit to this? We only just go into the charge due to working a lot of overtime so if there was a financial benefit to paying via PAYE to make working so much overtime more beneficial it would be a bonus!

Thank you.

There’s no financial benefit, it is just admin.

If you only just go into earning enough to pay it back, why not make a pension contribution equal to the excess & keep all the child benefit (and boost your pension!).
