Help!

I need to set up my 18yo (disabled so hasn't needed one before) and 16yo with bank accounts.. but i have no idea where does the best, or how to go about it.

Can anyone advise?

Nationwide is very easy and you can do it online with a passport. They get 5% in credit interest on their savings account, and the card is good to use abroad too. Mine have found the app easy to use (now 16 and 18) and are also pleased with the £150 payments they've had this year from Nationwide as profit shares

Who do you bank with? I opened kids account easily online for both my kids with my bank NatWest.

My dd went with Nationwide and has been very happy with them, every now and then they share their profits with customers which is nice.

Thanks. I use barclays, but my mum uses nationwide, so i'm familiar with them too.. might be easiest.

18yo has some limited ability to sort finances, he has a savings account that is currently under my control but he has access to put in/take out, so we feel he's ready to have a card with no overdraught.

i did wonder if a joint account would be permitted, but i'm guessing not

Why would you assume that? Provided you both agree, anyone can have a joint account. However, it would mean that the two of you are financially linked - so one to go into with eyes open.

Another vote for Nationwide - very easy to use and my DC have had hundreds of pounds back in profit sharing
