Severely disabled child element

I did not know that there was a difference between DCE and severely DCE for UC

I have incorrectly been getting the lower rate of £158 per month via UC since April 2024

do I have a leg to stand on for asking it to be backdated?

Yes put in a change of circumstances changing the rate of your child’s payment and then put a note in your journal saying sorry you have only just notified now but you didn’t know you had to report the change and request it be backdated to the date of award. They should add the severe element to your current award fairly quickly, the backdating will need to go to the decision maker but should go through fine. It will take longer though, possibly a couple of months. They are taking awhile at the moment.

Thank you I’m definitely going to give it a go. I found some template letters online if they say no
