Hi

so I am due emergency knee surgery in the next week. Just waiting the date. I am a single parent with little support network around me. My friend has offered I could stay with her for a few weeks durn my recovery as I will be in a brace and bed bound. How would I declare this etc with UC as I still need the rent element if my UC to pay the rent on my property for the month as I will be returning to my house. I am simply trying to find a way so that my kids can be feed and looked after as their dads have said they will only do their every other weekends

No need to declare anything for a month. Put a sick note in for UC if needed and go and recoup your strength at yoor friends.

Check house insurance for how many days you can leave the property unoccupied.

You're away from home but still liable for rent etc. No need to tell UC but if you want to put a message on your journal to keep them in the loop then fine.
