Cancelled Amazon order, no refund

ldgso · 10/07/2025 13:22

I placed an order for something on amazon then cancelled it an hour or so later. The item isn’t sold directly from Amazon.

The money went out of my bank, then when I cancelled, it said it can take 5-7 working days for the refund to show in my account.

It’s now been 8 working days and I haven’t received it. On Amazon it says I would need to get in touch with my bank to find out where the refund is? Is this correct? I haven’t managed to actually speak to someone from Amazon, it’s just those automated things.

Thanks

Request a call from Amazon. Their customer service has always been amazing for me

speak to them on the live chat or request a call. They’re normally very good at sorting things out.

RedPandaClaws · 10/07/2025 14:02

On the live chat keep clicking "my problem isn't sorted" or "I need more help" and eventually you'll get connected to a human who can usually sort it out in seconds.

Deffo contact them - I just used the live chat and got refunded for something that hadn’t registered in their system as a cancelled order. Super helpful and really quick to sort it out.

MageQueen · 10/07/2025 14:04

Yes, use the chat function. The bot will normally connect you with a person after a certain amount of times not being able to answer the question.

Are you 100% sure the money even left your account? Usually, even for a marketplace order, it would still be in your pending transactions and when you cancelled, it would just drop off (I’ve done this a few times, even with marketplace and third party sellers). The charge doesn’t actually get taken and doesn’t show on your statement so there is nothing to refund.

I’m just double checking, not trying to be rude by suggesting you check.

@BeltaLodaLifeOmgod you’re right actually 🙈🙈. How did I not notice this!! Thank you!

Problem solved! One transaction doesn’t stand out so easy to miss. At least you don’t have to chase Amazon to sort it out now.

I’ve done this probably 3 times now, every time I forgot to actually check that the money left my account.
