Retirement

Took slightly early retirement for health reasons three years ago. I worked out what I would have to spend each month and I was convinced I could do it, but I seem to be falling a bit behind every month, there always seems to be something that I have to pay out for. This month I have broken my front tooth and I have no way of paying for it, no nhs dentists around here and my private dentist is criminally expensive. I don’t know what to do to make my money stretch a bit further, I’m worrying all the time.

Do a bit of freelancing? Find a part time job?

Junoornotjuno · 15/06/2025 20:38

Are you entitled to any benefits or able to work part time?

Isn't there a site where you can advertise for odd jobs, like doing someones ironing, building flat pack furniture, walking dogs etc. I'll have a look see if I can find the link x

How long do you have until your state pension kicks in?

AngelaBB · 15/06/2025 20:56

I don’t think my health is good enough to work part time, I can’t stand/walk for very long. I am in receipt of my state pension but I’m not entitled to any extra benefits.

Do you think you may be entitled to Attendance Allowance?

Do you have any savings you could be spending?

Do you have any private pensions? If you just receive the state pension and you rent, you could apply for housing benefit.
