Miele extended warranty - has anyone had problems getting a replacement?

Hi all, just wondering if anyone else has had issues with Miele honouring their extended warranties?

We bought a Miele fridge 6 years ago with their extended 8-year warranty — the certificate is even titled “Peace of Mind.” Unfortunately, the fridge has broken down and Miele have deemed it “beyond economic repair.” Instead of replacing it, they’ve told us it’s at their “sole discretion” whether they do so — and their “final decision” is to offer just 20% off a new appliance!

We’re shocked. Surely the whole point of paying extra for an extended warranty — especially one called Peace of Mind — is to get a replacement if something goes badly wrong?

Has anyone else had a similar experience with Miele or managed to get a better outcome?

Yes I got 50% off! So they will move.

Plus I think they took off the cost of the call out to try and fix it.

What does your agreement say? I was similarly annoyed they wouldn’t replace my item as it wasn’t very old, but I didn’t have extended warranty.

50% definitely better than 20%. But … The quote they’re relying on is “if in the opinion of Miele an appliance is beyond economic repair, Miele reserves the right at its sole discretion to provide customers with a new appliance of equivalent specification”. I don’t see how they can offer us a discount instead? They’re saying their final decision is because its at their sole discretion they’re not replacing it. I don’t really understand how this is reasonable! We certainly wouldn’t have taken out an extended warranty if it just gave us a voucher to a replacement if it breaks under warranty.
