I've had a few changes to my life and income this year so paid an FA for a financial review. Large name company FA supposed to be familiar with civil service pensions. I handed over my complete financial picture plus latest annual benefit statement and figures from MYCSP online calculator. I received the review and started to follow it. Plan was to take my classic plus pension at 60, delay taking Alpha for as close to 67 as possible. I just received my pension form quote and it appears the FA missed that the online civil service calculator quote assumes you are taking both classic plus and alpha at the same time. They didn't know this or clearly refer to my ABS provided where the 2 figures are separate. This is exactly why I paid an FA to go over the figures, for a sanity check and reassurance and so I could work out if life changes were possible. I'm immediately going to have £2000 less a year pension than the FA figures due to this oversight. I paid for this review. This isn't acceptable is it?
