Family with separate travel insurance policies - will this work?

Looking for some advice from anyone who might have done this before and whether it worked out ok.

I have a travel insurance policy with my employer that covers personal travel also. We are going on holiday as a family later this year so I was planning to take out a single trip policy for my partner and children but wondered whether this would cause any potential problems with us having separate policies.

Flights and hotel are booked in partners name so presume if necessary I would need to make any claims for cancellations through the family insurance, but then any lost luggage, medical etc would be claimed separately eg his belongings/medical on his insurance, mine on my insurance. Just wondering if this will cause potential issues?

I did get a quote for the whole family including me but it’s considerably more expensive so would rather not do that unless I have to.

Thanks
