Uc buying a house

I was awarded a decent sum of money for medical negligence and uc disregards it for a year.

Using this money and some from my mum we've managed to mortgage a house.

How does changing over from rented to house work? I know we won't get the housing element but when do we notify them of the change as there's going to be a cross over period between moving houses.

I don't want to claim money I'm not entitled to.

If you can- move into your house/end your tenancy at the start of your next assessment period. Then when you report the change there won’t be an overlap of rent- once you report it your housing element will stop.
