Credit cards

Can anyone tell me if I spent on a credit card to pay for a service such as a landscaper or kitchen installer etc would it cover me if any problems arise with the professional service etc.
I have not used a credit card for many many years but have 2 with good amounts of credit on, which i like to keep just in case.even though i have cash / money in the bank to cover costs I thought about using the credit card to get better protection and just pay it off within the month but I thought I read somewhere it wouldn't cover me. ?

Yes it would cover you in those circumstances providing the work is over £100 and under £30k - you only have to pay a deposit on the card, not the whole amount.

So would cover you under section 75 protection in case the company goes bust, the work is shoddy or any other issues. However, it might not cover you for the work if you buy materials/kitchen and pay a day rate for the labour. I'd also not be surprised to find that the landscaper at least didn't accept credit cards unless it's a largeish company rather than a small number of people although I might be wrong about that.
