Do you think this sounds like a legitimate business?

I was perusing some loans for some home improvements and was offered one by this company. I smell a rat though as they are called UK FINANCE UK LTD and their email address is

loanhelpline32875424+[email protected].

Also upon ringing them, there is no greeting just a 'hello?' from someone with what sounds like an accent in Africa, and they also cut me off 4 times with no answer.

U.K FINANCE U.K LTD.

It’s obviously a scam go with your actual bank

anniegun · 31/03/2025 13:43

It is a scam . UK Finance is a trade body not a lender

The first customer review is written by John Doe. You can check the FCA number - just looking for it now

Yes that is a scam. It's a very obvious scam

The FCA shows that they're a known clone, using the FCA number of someone else - part of a scam.

So the FCA number is for a valid company but UK financial is a named unauthorised clone https://register.fca.org.uk/s/firm?id=001b000002NIzvXAAT

I needed a loan recently and got a free trial on Experian who will give you a list of preapproved lenders based on your credit score, so you can compare rates etc

There is no such company of that name registered at Companies House.

Make of that what you will.

Thanks ever so much everyone. I've reported this. I was THIS close to giving them my details, but I was almost scammed in a similar way trying to get a refund from easyJet last year...so glad I was cautious!!!

And thanks for the Experian tip.

John DOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH ;)
