Proceeds of house sale affecting Universal Credits

I've just sold my house and will be renting until I find somewhere suitable to buy, anyone know if the proceeds of my house sale, currently in bank account for deposit on new house, will affect my Universal Credits award?

You need to tell them on the journal that the money is intended for a house purchase and is the proceeds from a house sale. They will give you a set period of time (not sure how long) to complete a purchase.

Why do you need benefits if you’ve sold a house with equity? Apparently it won’t affect it for 6 months so you are in a very lucky position.

You mustn't dip into it at all while you're waiting to buy a new property, or you risk losing the 6 month exemption

Two responses and the judgmentalism already here.

Proceeds of one sale earmarked for a purchase can be disregarded for 6 months.

Thanks so much for responses, I really appreciate this information. Will update UC journal now. On paper I'm in a lucky position but there's 3 sides to every story........
