New car order - dealer we have a proposal we want to put to you...

I ordered a brand new car in Oct/Nov, delivery is due in about a months time. Interesting phone message from the delear today saying can you call urgently about your order. I was not able to, so emailed them and they said we have a proposal to put to me , but said no more and said they would ring back tomorrow.

Has anyone who has orderd a car had this? I reckon there is a delay and they want to offer me a different car? I have a contract or delivery of a car on 0% finance.

Has anyone had this with skoda?

Or they ordered the wrong spec and are going to offer you something so you still take the car

They might have a similar car available in the system that they want to offer you, perhaps for earlier delivery and also so it will count towards this financial year's sales figures.

It could be worth listening to what they're offering but also get them to email the details so you're not trying to compare specs and costs on the phone. You are obviously under no obligation to take any alternative but it might be advantageous if you do, eg better car and/or less money.

Just don't be pressured into making a decision. If they send an offer today you could ask to let them know on Monday and think about it over the weekend.

Also quite likely that the manufacturer can't deliver the spec you wanted due to chip shortages. You'd think they might have said before though.

My parents wanted a Skoda Karoq but there was a delay on orders of those so they were offered a Kodiaq for the same price. They took it and when it arrived it was the more expensive 7 seat model so even more of a bargain!

The Kodiaq is a great car if you don’t mind a Skoda
