Universal Credit & Childcare support

Hi,
I've had to make a claim for universal credit, I've submitted childcare costs as advised as am a carer for my niece while my LO is at nursery. When will I know if I will get support with the cost of childcare/when would it be reimbursed.
TIA

It's quite quick iirc. The awkward bit is that you only get reimbursed for what you spent in the assesment period (AP). So if you pay for your childcare from the first of the month to the last day, and you AP runs from the 12th of each month, you will only get that proportion of the cost back. It takes a couple of months to even up and sort itself out.

You only get childcare for paid employment. Do you get paid to look after your niece?

Yes I do, she has additional needs. I am SEN qualified among other things so am her 1:1

Oh her 1:1 at school! That’s really nice that you can support her!

yes, as @TheLurpackYears said its quite simple with the childcare element of UC but a faff depending on your assessment period. Just submit the invoice from childcare and proof you have paid it and UC should work it all out by your next assessment period.😀
