Do car insurance companies think we are stupid?

Discuss!!!

Got our quote for main car from existing car insurance company, it was for £670 which is twice as much as last year despite the fact we have 5 years no claims and did not claim in the last year!
After 30 minutes on internet we have the price down to £350 for exactly the same cover!!!
I plan on ringing current company later and asking them if they think we are stupid!!!

Its annoyihng isn't it

For the last few years I haven't compared car insurance prices, as Direct Line have usually been cheapest, same for Home Insurance

HOWEVER - I decided to double check home insurance this time around and got it HALF PRICE. Iwill def be checking car this year

(so yes, I am stupid )

my DH would have just left it TBH but im a complainer and was sure i could get it cheaper!!!
One good thing is that we have technically saved £300 so DH has promised me a long weekend on our anniversary in October!!!!!

It's not just car insurance companies - banks do it too with the interest rates on their savings accounts. They let the rates drop and drop and then open up a shiney new account with a great rate. They rely on apathy, and assume that we won't go to the bother of opening the new account/shopping around for new insurance.

Happens every year to us. Then we go back to current insurer and lo and behold, a miracle occurs and they can suddenly match the better offer we have got. They rely on apathy, and unfortunately the vast majority of people don't disappoint them.
