Opening joint account online

Has anyone opened a joint account online recently? Tried to open one with Barclays but we have to go to the branch with id and first appointment is two weeks away so don't want to do that.

I've been trying to do this
The advice I got from Lloyd's and the Halifax was that it's easier if you both have accounts then add the other person to one of them rather that setting it up joint at the start
I've yet to put it into practice though

Blimey, that seems mad and an obvious loophole.

Yes we have before with no problems.

Monzo - if you each open an account, you can then open a joint one without the faff of going in to a branch.
we did it recently - scarily easy!
pleased with monzo so far

@Ph3 who was it with? One of the online banks? Nationwide seem to say that they do it all online whereas Barclays you have to go to the branch although you can do individual account online.

Santander made it very easy to open a joint account online last time we switched. Lloyds, the switch before, insisted on a branch visit.

Virgin bank when it was still virgin bank.

@PhilosophicalCheeseSandwich useful, thank you. I'd be happy to go in if it wasn't a two week wait!

And further to my previous response, I've just this evening switched a joint account to Nationwide online. No visit to branch required.

You can probably tell I'm not a loyal customer!

@PhilosophicalCheeseSandwich it almost sounds like a hobby! Might try nationwide.
