I may possibly have to work less than 16 hours per week starting sept 2008, in order to keep my job. Does anyone know will this affect my child tax credit at all? I think i will probably end up taking home about £700 a month, i think.

Depends really, if you are claiming on your own, getting working tax credit and help with child care that will stop and you will get just the child tax credits.
If you are living with a partner then al depends on their circumstances.

Do have dh who earns around £24,000 ish, working 32 hours a week and will have no childcare costs prob, as ds starts school sept.
